PRIVATE SPEEDBOAT RENTAL
FAQ
PRIVATE SPEEDBOAT RENTAL in KOH PHI PHI
Where do your private trips start and finish
All our private trips start and end at Tonsai Pier, the main pier on Phi Phi Island. Our office and most of our boats are based right here on the island.
If you’re staying at a secluded beach or resort on the opposite side of Phi Phi Don, please contact us in advance — an additional hotel pick-up fee may apply depending on the location.
For customers staying in Krabi or Phuket, we also offer private speedboat rentals with hotel pick-up and transfers included. Contact us for more details and availability.
Can we leave Koh Phi Phi on the same day of our tour?
Yes, absolutely. If you’re staying in Phi Phi overnight and join a morning private trip, you can leave the island right after your tour.
The last ferries to Krabi, Phuket, and Koh Lanta usually depart around 15:30.
You can check out of your hotel in the morning and store your luggage at our office, which is just a 2-minute walk from the pier. We’ll help make your transition smooth and stress-free.
Do we need to stay in Koh phi phi overnight to hire your boat?
Yes, if you’re renting a private boat from Phi Phi Island, you’ll need to stay overnight on the island, as all our regular trips start and finish at Tonsai Pier in Phi Phi.
However, if you’re staying in Krabi or Phuket, we also offer private boat rentals with pick-up and departure from those locations. Just let us know your hotel, and we’ll arrange everything for you.
What happens if it starts raining on the day of our trip?
If it rains before your trip starts, we can reschedule or postpone it to another day if that suits you (depends also on availability).
Koh Phi Phi usually enjoys a good climate, and rain showers are often short, typically lasting less than an hour.
If it rains during your trip, we’ll continue unless there’s a severe storm. All our speedboats are covered, so you’ll stay protected from both rain and sun.
What happens if it starts raining during our trip?
If it rains during your trip, we’ll continue as planned unless there’s a severe storm.
All our speedboats have a covered roof, so you’ll stay protected from both the sun and the rain.
What to bring on a rainy day:
A light rain jacket or poncho
A dry bag for your phone, camera, and valuables
Quick-dry clothing or a spare change of clothes
A good attitude – rain is part of the adventure and often passes quickly in the tropics!
Koh Phi Phi typically experiences short tropical showers, and most trips go ahead without any issues.
What locations can we visit if we book the one day trip?
You can explore all three main areas: the dramatic cliffs and hidden lagoons of Phi Phi Leh, the lively beaches and viewpoints of Phi Phi Don, and the crystal-clear waters and powdery white sands of Bamboo Island. Our private trips usually include top highlights like Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Viking Cave, Monkey Beach, and some of the best snorkeling spots around the islands.
Please note that the final route may vary depending on weather, tide, and wind conditions on the day of your trip — your safety and comfort are always our top priority. We’ll adjust the plan as needed to ensure you still have an amazing and unforgettable experience.
What locations can we visit if we book the half day trip?
When booking a half-day speedboat trip, you can choose between Program #1 (South) or Program #2 (North):
Program #1 – The South: Phi Phi Leh Island
Shark Point – Snorkeling with tropical fish
Maya Bay – Famous beach from The Beach movie (weather & tide dependent)
Pileh Lagoon – Stunning emerald lagoon surrounded by cliffs
Viking Cave – Sightseeing from the boat
Monkey Beach (Tonsai) – Wild monkeys on the beach
Program #2 – The North: Phi Phi Don & Bamboo Island
Shark Point – Snorkeling
Runtee Bay – Calm bay for swimming/snorkeling
Bamboo Island – White sand beach, great for sunbathing and snorkeling
Monkey Beach – Optional stop on the way back
All stops are weather, tide, and sea condition dependent — we always choose the best route for your safety and enjoyment. Let us know your preference when booking!
What places and locations can we visit in Phi Phi island?
Don’t worry if you’re unsure about which spots to visit — just choose whether you’d like a half-day or full-day trip, and we’ll help you plan the rest when you arrive.
Even during the trip, the program is flexible. If you find a place you love, you’re welcome to stay longer. If something’s not your vibe, we can move on to the next location.
Our experienced crew works in Phi Phi every day — they know the best snorkeling spots, hidden lagoons, and quiet beaches, and they’ll make suggestions based on your wishes, weather, and sea conditions.
Let the adventure unfold naturally — this is your day in paradise!

Flexible start time — we’ll help you choose the best slot depending on the day’s conditions.
We’ll confirm the exact timing with you the day before your tour.
Is it better to book a half-day or one-day trip?
That depends entirely on your preferences and travel style.
Most of our guests choose the one-day trip (7 hours), as it offers the full Phi Phi experience — you’ll visit multiple snorkeling spots, explore stunning beaches, and see the highlights of the islands all in one day.
If you’re staying longer on Phi Phi or prefer to take things slower, you can also split the experience into two half-day trips on separate days. While this option is slightly more expensive, it’s a great choice for:
Families with small children
Older travelers who prefer shorter outings
Anyone who wants to explore at a more relaxed pace
Can we start the trip very early?
The sun rises around 6:15 AM, and we can start running private speedboat trips from 7:00 AM onwards.
If you’re hoping to catch the soft morning light and enjoy quieter spots before other tours begin, an early start is a great idea. Just keep in mind that the sun isn’t fully out until around 8:00 AM, so if you’re after bright photos and warmer weather, a slightly later start might suit you better.
Can we include in our trip the night swimming with bioluminescent plankton?
Yes, you can include plankton swimming at the end of your private trip!
To do this, you’ll need to finish around 19:30, which means:
Start at 12:30 for a full-day trip
Start at 15:30 for a half-day trip
The sun sets around 18:45, and afterward you’ll wait on the boat watching the sunset until it gets dark enough to see the glowing plankton — usually just after 7 PM. For safety, we stop near Monkey Beach, where the water is shallower and safer for swimming.
🌑 Note: Plankton visibility depends on nature. It’s usually best seen when the sky is dark. Around the full moon, it may be harder to see due to moonlight — but even then, a cloudy sky can improve visibility. While we can’t guarantee the brightness each night, it’s always a magical experience!
How fixed is the itinerary and can we change the program during the trip?
You can adjust the trip during the day — just let our captain know so they can manage the timing and coordinate with you.
If you arrive at a spot like Bamboo Island and want to stay longer, feel free! It’s totally up to you. Keep in mind, spending more time in one place means less time at other locations.
Please also note that the itinerary depends largely on the weather and wind conditions on the day of your trip.
One important thing: the boat follows a circular route and won’t backtrack to previously visited spots. Once you leave a location, the captain will not return there during that trip.
What are the advantages of speedboat vs traditional long-tail boat?
Speed
Speedboats are fast, cutting travel time significantly between spots. For example, a trip from the port to Bamboo Island takes about 10-15 minutes by speedboat, but nearly an hour by long-tail boat. If you want to explore the full tour without spending half your day just riding, speedboats are the better choice. Long-tail boats suit shorter trips better.
Comfort
Speedboats offer more space to sit comfortably—both inside and at the front—and allow you to walk around when anchored. They’re also safer and more stable on windy days compared to long-tail boats.
Experience
Speedboats provide a more spacious and private vibe. Our crew keeps your drinks cold with an ice-filled cool box, serves fresh fruit, assists with snorkeling, and ensures you’re well cared for throughout the trip.
Getting On and Off
Speedboats have two rear ladders for easier water entry and exit, plus we aim to dock right on the beach whenever possible. Long-tail boats have a small side ladder, which can be challenging for less mobile guests.
What is included in the private speedboat trip?
No need to worry about packing too much—just bring your good mood!
We provide masks, snorkels, and life jackets on board for your safety and fun. You’ll also enjoy seasonal fresh fruit, water, soda, and an ice-filled cool box to keep your drinks chilled.
For one-day trips, lunch is included — a choice of Thai fried rice with chicken or a vegetarian option.
All national marine park fees (400 THB per person) are covered in the price, so no extra charges there.
Feel free to bring your own towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, or any drinks to make your trip even more comfortable.
Is there a lunch included in the trip?
We provide lunch on one-day trips, offering Thai fried rice with your choice of chicken or a vegetarian (meat-free) option.
Can we bring some alcoholic drinks on board?
We provide a cool box with ice and soft drinks (water and cola) on the boat. You are welcome to bring your own beers, wine, or other alcoholic beverages to enjoy during the trip.
Please note, drinking alcohol is not allowed in the national park area. Also, smoking weed is strictly prohibited in the park—rangers actively check and can issue fines.
Does the captain or boat boy speak English?
All our captains can communicate in basic English and have excellent knowledge of the local snorkeling and swimming spots. Additionally, our English-speaking customer service team is available online via WhatsApp throughout the day to assist you whenever you need.
How many people can fit into one speedboat?
Speedboats suit to a different group sizes:
One-Engine Boat (2–8 people): Ideal for couples or small groups.
Two-Engine Boat (9–25 people): Available in two sizes; perfect for medium-sized groups.
Three-Engine Boat (26–35 people): Best for large groups or shared/join-in tours.
Can I go on the speedboat if I suffer from seasickness?
I would suggest booking a half-day trip only if you are not that comfortable on a boat. We can never predict what the sea conditions will be on the day of your trip. Some days the sea is calm, and you don’t even know you are on a boat. Some days the wind is strong, and that can create bigger waves which can make you feel sick.
There is a cheap seasick pill you can take 30 minutes before the trip. They sell it in every shop and pharmacy, and it helps with the motion sickness. Also, the advantage of having a private boat is that you can ask the captain to stay longer on beaches or in the lagoon where the sea is calm even during windy days.
Can I go on a speedboat trip if I’m pregnant?
Due to safety and insurance regulations, we cannot accept bookings for pregnant women.
The sea conditions can change quickly, and if the waves get bigger, the speedboat ride can become very bumpy. Every time the boat hits a wave, there’s a strong impact, which could be unsafe.
If a reservation is made without notifying us of a pregnancy and you are refused entry to the boat or transfer, NO REFUND will be provided.
It is your responsibility to inform us in advance before making any booking.
Can we rent a speedboat trip with an infant?
We’ve had many happy customers with children on our trips, and they usually enjoy it very much. However, we don’t recommend taking an infant on a speedboat trip — or any boat trip — especially in tropical climates where the weather and sea conditions can change quickly.
That said, if you still decide to come with a baby, having a private boat gives you full flexibility. You can return to the pier at any time if needed, and our crew will do their best to accommodate you. Just keep in mind that speedboats can be bumpy when the sea gets rough, and this may not be suitable for very young children.
Let us know in advance if you’re planning to bring a baby, so we can assist you as best as possible.
Can you spot sharks in Phi Phi Island?
Yes, you can! Koh Phi Phi is home to blacktip reef sharks, and spotting them is often a highlight of the trip for many visitors.
These reef sharks are most commonly seen around Shark Point and and in the shallow, crystal-clear waters of Phi Phi Leh. They’re usually around 1 meter long, swim peacefully, and are completely harmless to humans — making for an exciting yet safe snorkeling experience.
🐠 You’ll also see plenty of colorful tropical fish and coral reefs.
Why is speedboat rental more expensive than a traditional long-tail boat rent?
Powerful Engines Cost More to Run
Speedboats are equipped with strong Yamaha or Suzuki engines, built to carry heavy loads safely and quickly — even in rough sea conditions. Unlike long-tail boats (which often run on small refurbished engines from motorbikes), speedboats consume a lot more fuel and require proper, high-performance equipment.
👨✈️ Professional Crew
Your trip includes a licensed captain and experienced boat crew, onboard to ensure a smooth and safe experience.
🎟️ National Park Fee Included
The 400 THB per person National Park fee is already included in your speedboat rental. When you rent a long-tail boat, this is not included and must be paid separately.
🧼 Daily Cleaning & Maintenance
Speedboats require daily cleaning and safety checks. After each trip, our team washes the boat inside and out to remove salt, oil, and sand, preventing corrosion. The engines are also inspected every day to keep everything in top shape.
